Introducing AbacusLaw 2012

AbacusLaw 2012 introduces numerous user-requested features to improve productivity and usability.

Warning: If you believe, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” you need to read this now!

Technology works like dogs years.  Every technology year that goes by is more like 7 calendar years due to constant changes. Abacus works very hard to keep you competitive by constantly updating AbacusLaw. That’s the only way we can incorporate new technologies and remain compatible with your existing computers. And that means we can only support prior versions for three years (21 dog years) from the release date. If you’re using a prior version of AbacusLaw that is more than three years old, you’re going to have a problem that may shut down your law office. Why? Read on.

It’s not if, but when. Here’s why you should expect problems with prior versions of software.
Problems with older versions of all software, including AbacusLaw, are caused by the continuous updates and patches that happen automatically on your computer and server to Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, WordPerfect, Outlook, Adobe, iTunes and virtually every other program on your computer. (To view these updates go to Start/Control Panel/Programs/Installed Updates). These updates have the potential to, and occasionally do, cause problems with previously installed software.  For example, a patch to Outlook might cause a problem with linking emails to AbacusLaw. To resolve these problems, we reprogram AbacusLaw and update your installation. We do that for all supported versions, however, due to changes in programming tools and hardware, we no longer have the capability to reprogram versions older than three years.

You are always best protected by using the most current version of every program.
