iPhone 4 Synchronization

Synchronization for SmartPhones

There are two ways to synchronize your AbacusLaw calendar and contacts with your smart phone.

  1. AbacusSync: Wireless
  2. CompanionLink: Free

1. AbacusSync
Wireless synchronization
Never dock your phone or go through other applications to sync. AbacusSync costs $97 per year per mobile device and requires is a one-time $250 installation fee.

AbacusSync works with all SyncML complaint devices including the iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and Palm.

2. CompanionLink
Included with AbacusLaw
Once the CompanionLink software is installled, to sync your mobile device, connect your phone to your computer and hit the sync button. Your AbacusLaw data is converted to the smart phone format, so appointments and contacts show up just as they would if you were to enter them on the device itself. CompanionLink also supports a local Exchange server with Abacus.

Depending on your mobile device, there are a number of different sync methods.

  • iPhone: Abacus will synchronize to your iPhone through iTunes (via Outlook).  It is a one button sync, but needs Outlook and iTunes to be installed (this process will work on your iPad too).
  • Blackberry: Abacus can sync directly to units using BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 5 and below. For Blackberry's that use a newer version of the Desktop Manager, you may have to sync through Outlook.
  • Android: Abacus will synchronize to your Android via Outlook.
  • Symbian OS's: Smartphones using this operating system will also sync between itself and Outlook. Abacus then synchs through Outlook.
  • Palm PDA: This is the direct sync between Abacus and a Palm PDA. We currently support up to Palm Desktop Version 6.
  • Palm Desktop: As with the Palm PDA synch, use up to version 6 of the Palm Desktop.
  • Windows Mobile: For handhelds with up to Windows Mobile 6.x and users with the older Windows CE operating system on their handhelds, we synchronize to your device though Outlook on your PC.

Note: synching through OutLook requires a full version of that program; not compatible with Outlook Express.
